BT.656 to 1808 experimenter's kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1808

Hi All,

I would like to ask a question on AM1808 experimenter's kit.

On http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/tmdxexp1808l.html, I didn't find any connector for video input. Is there still any way to connect a camera with BT.656 output format to it?

Since many home PC uses cameras with USB connector, it seems likely that USB cameras could be used. But does those webcams output BT.656 stream? Basically, does there exist camera with

  1. USB connector
  2. BT.656 output

combination?

Thanks,
Zheng

  • USB is serial. BT.656 is parallel.

If you are looking for a camera for a particular application, you may have better luck with an internet search/shopping tool. You can get answers on many TI products here. For example, you may enjoy the Applications section of the TI home page, especially under Applications-->Video & Imaging, or in particular the EUCDK.

  • Zheng,

USB and BT656 are completely different types of physical interfaces designed for different purposes.

You should be able to connect a USB camera to any USB host but it would require a USB driver to support the particular device class and possibly the specific device.
