Strange behavior while editing and then open tcf file

Very often and after editing my tcf file (no matter which option I change) I get the next error message:

Then I am not be able to save the changes so the only solution is to close the tcf file without saving. Moreover when I try to open it for insisting on the change I want to do, I get another new error message

After this I try to open the tcf again and normally this works for the second attempt . Please, could someone help me with this?

I use CCS v4.2.1.00004 and MS W7 Professional 32-bits

Thanks in advance,

Gaston

  • Are you seeing this on more than one machine?  We have not seen this error before.  How much memory does your Windows machine have?

Can you try uninstall/reinstall of CCS to see if this fixes the problem?   You can also install CCS a second time in a different directory and see if the new copy has the same problem.

No Karl. I have CCS installed in another machine and I couldn't see the same error.

    I think a large enough: 4GB (2.99GB usable)

Well, I wouldn't like to do this, at least for now. I prefer to wait for next CCS update or move to CCS v5. Anyway, the problem seems to be related to the BIOS configuration GUI. From my point of view I find this tool outdated, inherited from CCS v3.3 and giving sometimes annoying behaviors. Are you planned to update this tool soon?

  • Hi Gaston --

There are no plans to update the BIOS 5.x config tool.  We ported it to CCSv4/5 to help migrate existing BIOS 5.x apps to CCSv4/5.  We are focusing future development on BIOS 6.x.

Which specific version of CCSv4 are you using?   Are you using same exact version on both machines?   I don't think the root cause for this will be easy to find unfortunately as we are not seeing this elsewhere.

  • Ok Karl, I bet for the future development on BIOS 6.x. I'd switch to it but Platform Support Packages are not BIOS 6.x ready yet. I'm afraid I'll have to wait patiently for this.

    v4.2.1.00004 on both machines.

  • Hi Gaston,

We can reproduce this problem at our end. This problem is seen in XDCtools  3.20.05 and later releases. Until we have a fix in place is it possible for you to use XDCtools 3.20.04?

If you want to go this route you can do the following:

    • Shutdown CCS4 if it is open.
    • Delete the current XDCtools installation in your system,
    • Download XDCtools 3.20.04 and install it in the default install location - c:\Program Files\Texas Instruments.
    • Start CCS4. The IDE will detect the new release and prompt a restart. After the restart, you should have XDCtools 3.20.04 active in your setup.

  • Hello Gaston,

We have a fix for the gconf bug that you reported in XDCtools 3.20.08 .

  • Amit, now it seems to work fine. Thank you!
