AM6526: Power consumption and price

Part Number: AM6526
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM6546, AM6548,

Is there any indication of the typical and maximum power consumption of this device?

I need this information to be able to make the choice between this device and other competing devices.

As we want to be able to upscale I would like the same information for the AM6546.

I know we can now buy samples of the latter put there is no price indication?

  • Hi,

Let me please look into both of these and get back to you early next week.

    Thank you.

  • Hi,

Regarding price, today we're only sampling the superset device AM6548 and you can find price indication here: http://www.ti.com/product/AM6548/samplebuy

Other part variants will be published in 4Q of this year when the device family moves to production.

    Regards,

    Carlos

  • This price is for pre-production samples and I would have expected this to be higher than for the final production units. So is this price really comparable to the final price and is there an expected price for the AM6526?

I don't need an actual quote but a relatively realistic price indication, so that I can compare a solution using the AM65xx with other solutions.

There is also still the question about power or current consumption?

  • That's correct, that's pre-production samples. Do you have a TI sales rep contact? We do not discuss pricing, especially prior to production release, on e2e, even if budgetary. If not, let me know and we'll figure out a way to get you a price indication.

Yes, power consumption is still pending. For the dual-core, roughly we would expect it between 3 and 5W, depending on the use case (temperature, speed, what parts of the silicon are being utilized, etc.). We will have a power estimation tool once we have full characterization of silicon rev 2.0, which is expected some time in 3Q of this year.
