Hi,

I worked on AM6548IDK and got SPI communication with external SPI slave working on Linux with spidev and a mcspi.
I transitioned to TDA4VMXEVM and would like to use also Linux and spidev to communicate with external SPI slave.

I've noticed that this seems to be not supported yet by TI. Is this correct? If yes is there any support planned?

From my point of view, regarding the TRM of AM6548 and TDA4, the McSPI-Modules of these two look pretty similar.

Is there a possibility to reuse linux kernel mcspi-driver for mcspi-module on TDA4? So that the main-issue is to get the devicetree configuration right?

    The McSPI module on TDA4 is same as on AM6548 and the same driver can be used.

    It is not enabled by default in the SDK as we dont have a SPI slave device on the TI EVM to test against

    You can reuse the same driver and update the DT parameters appropriately, taking care of right pin mux configuration(as in arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/k3-am654-base-board.dts)  and also specifying the module properties (as in arch/arm64/boot/dts/ti/k3-am65-main.dtsi)

    When specifying the module properties, ensure that you pass the right values for interrupt number, clock IDs, DMA channel etc
