OMAP DSP/ARM booting

User Bootloader (UBL) available at (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Serial_Boot_and_Flash_Loading_Utility_for_OMAP-L137#Obtaining_the_software, in the folder OMAP-L137\CCS\UBL_DSP) can give some idea of the sequence/steps that can be followed to configure the DSP and few peripherals. These steps usually depends on the application requirements.

Thx for the reply..  I'm not sure this answers my question however.   I know how to boot the DSP side thru the SPI port;  the

app report SPRAB04A  shows how to do this.  The AISgen utility builds a a binary file from the DSP application;then

its a fairly straightforward matter to flash the binary file to the SPI rom. AISgen setsup the PLL and configures the PLL and EMIFB SDRAM

registers;  other initializations have to be done in the application.  I've basically duplicated the GEL file setups in my application.

    So what I need now is the steps for merging in the ARM application,and the controls the DSP needs for configuring and starting the ARM.

If you download the Linux SDK for OMAPL137 (http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_tii/psp/LinuxPSP/DaVinci_03_20/index.html), the DSP software needs to configure the ARM in order to boot up Linux.  So even though you are not using Linux, you can reference the software source to see how this is done.

The code for DEVICE_enable_ARM() should be located here: [SDK_DIR]\src\boot-strap\dspubl-03.20.00.12\src\omapl1x7\device.c

  I expect what I'm looking forward may be buried pretty deeply in the reference you sent, but as I said, I don't intend to build the ARM apps for Linux or any Linux workstation. I don't want codesourcery- SDK, DSPLINK or any related utilities.  I may be totally uniformed but its my hope the ARM code can be built in CCS,just as the DSP is,and somehow the files merged into a single file that something like the D800K001 bootloader utility, which takes a DSP file(from CCS)  and creates a binary that can be loaded to flash.

 I guess what it may boil down to is TI doesn't intend to support any application other than ARM linux for the OMAP      thx  Carl

    Apparently the ARM side examples are all for CCS 4.2.  I did try and do a build for one of the examples

for CCS 33, but there's something odd about the include directives.   The ARM examples enclose all the include directives in angle brackets instead of

quotes;  so I tried to modify the -i option in the build options, but it didn't work.  Any idea on CCS 33 ARM examples?  Spectrum Digital does not supply any with the OMAP
