It appears the SATA controller supports SATA I and SATA II.
Does it support SATA III?
How should I handle SSDs?
Thanks.

Hello,
The SATA controller does not support SATA III, only I and II. However from reading around, SATA III spec is backwards compatible to work on SATA I/II ports, but the maximum speeds will be lower due to limitations of the port.
There is a SATA driver in the legacy BIOS PSP product that customers have used in the past to interface to an SSD. This package is provided as-is and does not have any support from TI. It can be downloaded from here: http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/psp/BIOSPSP/index.html
