TDA4VM: Ethernet support TSN source clock

Hi TI member,

We're using SGMII connect to external Ethernet Switch which do support TSN.

But question is there should need sync Ethernet source clock (25MHz) for it.

Does the TDA4 support this frequency clock?

    Hello Jimmy,

    Can you please elaborate on use-case? Sync Ethernet is not supported on TDA4 but I am sure there should be alternative in TDA4x we can utilize to get required functionality.

    Hi Jacinto,

    I only got the information from the Ethernet switch pin define. Which is SE_SCLK Sync Ethernet Clock Source.

    And this pin requires a 25MHz reference clock. (use as a sync clock) 

    Meanwhile, I'm asking the Ethernet vendor for more detail on this pin.

    From your reply is that TDA4 not support sync Ethernet. So will it implement in TDA4x?

    Although it not yet ready. How should I reserved it on board?

    I've checked there has MCU_CLKOUT0 but not sure it support sync Ethernet.

    Hello Jimmy,

    My understanding is SynC E is not needed for TSN and it is a different standard. Also this can't be implemented without CPSW IP support which is not there in TDA4.  

    You mentioned about sync E pin. I assume this reference was not for TDA4 but external switch, right?

    Let us check if time aware scheduling can provide your required functionality.
