TDA4VM: Compiling and Running Example using SD Card Boot Mode

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi,

I am able to Run an Test application from Pdk given in Psdk_Rtos on  MCU2_1 core  using NO BOOT(CCS) mode on TDA4VM Board.

Is it possible to Run the application on MCU2_1 core using SD CARD BOOT mode?

  • Hi,

Yes this is possible with SBL. I will check if there is a userguide entry on this, but usually you have to

    1. Build the SBL SD image, (sbl_mmcsd_img)

    2. Copy this as "tiboot3.bin" to your SD card

    3. Copy sysfw.bin from pdk/packages/ti/drv/sciclient/soc/V1/sysfw.bin to your SD card

    4. When you build your app, for example udma_memcpy_testapp, among the xer5f files created for CCS load, it should also create udma_memcpy_testapp_mcu2_1_release.appimage file. Rename this as "app" and copy to the SD card.

    5. Now when you boot, SBL should load your app.

This is the procedure, but let me confirm this and get back to you. Meanwhile you can try this and let me know if you faced any issues.

  • How to generate .appimage file? It is not getting created along with .xer5f file.

  • Hi Soham,

For which example, do you want to generate .appimage?

For most of the pdk example, this is by default generated..

  • Hi,

I want to Generate .appimage file for Different CSL Examples like Mailbox, Spinlock, I2c and Esm.

    Regards

    Soham

  • Hi Soham,

Please refer to any of the component make file. You could find a rule like

    sciclient_firmware_boot_TestApp_SBL_APPIMAGEGEN = yes
    export sciclient_firmware_boot_TestApp_SBL_APPIMAGEGEN

So you just need to add rule like above for your example in component make file. Then build system will automatically generate appimage..
