Hi Guys,

I am having an interesting problem with the AM1808 processor and LAN8710 (It is a custom board). For some reason u-boot will not recognize the LAN8710 (I have tried logical address 0 and 7, but still no luck). The linux kernel does recognize the MII interface and ifconfig sees it. However I cannot get DHCP addresses allocated to it, and I cannot set up static addresses and make it work.

So my question is, what should I start checking? The oscillator for the LAN8710 is working, and the power supplies are fine.

Niclas,

Did you use the same implementation as the EVM? If so, the BSL test for MII should also run on your board and you can mostly eliminate the possibility of a hardware issue.

My implementation is based on the LogicPD OMAP-L138 SOM-M1. Where can I find the BSL test for MII?

The Board Support Library, or BSL, would be available from the collateral site of the board manufacturer. In this case LogicPD.

Hi Guys,

I get this message from Linux, kernel so it seems that it has found the EMAC.

EMAC: MII PHY configured, RMII PHY will not be functional

davinci_emac_probe: using random MAC addr: fe:d3:66:35:5b:60
emac-mii: probed

But the Linux Kernel doesn't seem to be able to get a DHCP address from the network:

root@arago:~# ifup eth0
eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1
udhcpc (v1.13.2) started
Sending discover...
Sending discover...
Sending discover...
No lease, failing

The same thing actually also happens with a USB to Ethernet Adapter, but only when using the ARM linux board. With the same USB to Ethernet adapter connected to a "normal" computer it works fine. What could be the problem?

Hi Guys,

I manage to get the BSL, however I do not have a "Blackhawk USB100v2", so I am not sure if I can use the BSL files.

The code should work with any emulator.

Now we are facing the same problem. The MAC can be found, however, dhcp always fail.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Yes, I got the problem solved. Are you seeing a randomly generated MAC or a "real" MAC address? Have you checked that you have the physical address of the chip selected in the correct way?
