TDA4VM: Can a Bayer Raw camera connected to CSI_RX_IF1?

Part Number: TDA4VM

In document spruil1a.pdf, section 12.7.1.1.4.1 CSI_RX_IF Block Diagram, there is a note as below:

"Stream2 streams to VISS. Note, CSI_RX_IF0 VP0 is only connected to VISS only. CSI_RX_IF1 VP0 is not connected (NC)."

Does it means CSI_RX_IF1 cannot support raw sensor because the stream cannot stream to VISS?

  • Hello,

The second CSI_RX_IF1 receiver supports RAW sensors, just you can't ship the data to VISS, but it has to be sent to memory.

    thanks,

    Alex

  • Hi,

But VISS should be important to raw data image processing.

If a RAW camera sensor is used, is it more suitable to connect it to CSI_RX_IF0 instead?

Currently, our product design is as below:

    CSI0 <--> YUV422 camera (with ISP) x4

CSI1 <--> RAW Bayer camera (without ISP) x1

Shall we swap them for better VISS support?

    Thanks,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

If you want to capture and process 4 camera input, you could any interface for RAW camera, as in this case, camera input has to be stored first in memory and then processed in VISS. VP0 path cannot be used for multiple camera..

  • Hi Brijesh,

    Thanks for the information!

The only RAW sensor used is now connected to CSI1. It could be the case which can be streamed to VP0.

We think it might be better (typical) to connect (single) RAW sensor to CSI0 for simpler VISS support. Is it correct?

For the 4 sensor application, it is now connected to CSI0. According to your information, they can be connected to CSI1 since we can't stream the multiple camera inputs to the VISS directly.

Could you confirm it? Thanks in advance!

    Best Regards,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

Yes, it would be better to VP0 of IF0.

But please note we dont yet support this path in SW.
