AM3356: HSR-PRP-DAN on SDK 7.0

Part Number: AM3356

Hi,

We're using an AM3356 device with the kernel version (3.12.10-ti2013.12.01 armv7l GNU/Linux). We have used the SDK ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00 to create the same. We were thinking of providing PRP support to the device without having a major revamp of our SDK. We have obtained the PRU-ICSS-HSR-PRP-DAN_01.00.04.02 source from TI.

Can you please provide me with the steps to build the PRP Daemon using this SDK ?

PS: I have tried building the source using ti-processor-sdk-rtos-am335x-evm-04.03.00.05 SDK. The build was successful but the final output was not running in my target machine (since it runs on ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00 SDK).

  • Hi,

SDK 7.0 is obsolete and no longer supported by TI. You should consider moving to a newer SDK, where HSR-PRP-DAN is supported.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your quick response. Actually, we have already migrated to the new kernel version(4.14.67: am335x-evm-linux-sdk-src-05.01.00.11), and we are parallelly trying to compile PRP for that SDK too.

But we have given the Kernel (3.12.10), SDK7.0 to our old customers. They are unable to upgrade the device to the new version right now. So we need to know how to provide the PRP support to old customers.

Can you please guide us to, maybe the older version of  PRU-ICSS-HSR-PRP source using which we can provide support to SDK7.0.

    Your support is greatly appreciated.

  • I'm sorry, as Biser mentioned, we cannot provide support for this effort to backport PRP to SDK 7.0.

    Thank you.

  • Hi RonB,

I understand the situation. Just have one more question. I have successfully cross-compiled the PRP source code from GitHub and created a daemon for my AM3356 device. My question is due to the VLAN Segregation in AM335x devices, will the cross-compiled PRP pose any issues? Is the VLAN Segregation handled at the Kernel level and will not be forwarded to the external daemon? I am just curious about its working.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Unfortunately TI is unable to help with the VLAN segregation question, this is also beyond the scope of support that TI provides which is only at the driver level on the SOC.

    Best Regards,

    Schuyler
