Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM1705, AM1707
Hello,
We are using AM1705 in one of our projects, and had queries on EMIFB interfacing:
1) AM1705 can only support 16-bit SDRAM on EMIFB. The user guide is generic and is used across all AM17x devices, including AM1707 which has 32-bit SDRAM support.
2) The table in the datasheet is incorrect. Since there are only 16 data bits and 2 DQMs, only one 16-bit memory is supported, as shown in Figure 6-17. The Memory columns in Table 6-21 are incorrect and will be updated.

Hi,
If only 16-bit data and 2 DQM's, only 1 16-bit memory is supported; then as per AM1705 datasheet page 1, " EMIFB: 16-bit SDRAM with 256MB address space" will this be a valid condition (as max. address lines from AM1705 are 13)?
Kindly confirm.
Thanks & Regards,

Yes the datasheet is correct. See this memory datasheet for the connection details:

Hi Jeff,
So a 16-bit SDRAM will interface to only 256M-bit (max.) and not 256M-byte address space? Pls. confirm.
Thanks,
Roma
Sorry I need to correct myself. The maximum address space is determined by the number of memories used:
For 2x8-bit memories, the maximum address space is 128M-bytes
For 1x16-bit memory, the maximum address space is 64M-byte, due to the fact that there are no 1024M-bit memories available.
The table showing this will be added to the next revision of the datasheet. Thanks,
Jeff
