AM4372: Camera connections for 8-bit Y data

Hi,

In our design, we are connecting a camera sensor and a barcode reader on camera port 0 using a muxer in between to toggle the signals.

The camera is configured to output 8-bit YUV data hence the parallel pins from camera are connected to D[7:0] pins on the camera port. Whereas, the barcode sensor is configured to output 8-bit Y data only. Also the barcode vendor is suggesting to connect the parallel data pins from sensor to D[9:2] pins of the camera port.

Can we connect the 8-bit output from barcode sensor to D[7:0] pins of the camera port? Also, do I need to configure the VPFE for 8-bit raw data?

Hi Jiju, not sure of the answer here. Is there a reason the barcode vendor suggested to shift the data to D[9:2]?

I am not sure about any particular limitation from the barcode sensor. But, I have asked for details from the barcode vendor.

Hi James,

As per discussion with the barcode vendor, there is no particular limitation from the barcode module. Hence we are moving forward with the D[7:0] connection sequence.
