TDA4VM: TDA4VM output interfaces

Part Number: TDA4VM

Dear experts,

I am an intern at TI in Freising GE and I'm using TDA4VM in my project.

I'm asking if TDA4VM can generate RGB and LVDS signals ?

I can't find the RGB and LVDS interfaces on it, doesn't it support them?

Best regards,

Brahim

  • Hi Brahim,

LVDS directly from SoC is not supported. You need to connect any serializer to get LVDS output.

RGB output is supported on DPI0/1 interface.

  • Hi Brijesh,

    Thank you for your answer.

I have a serializer to be tested and it needs a LVDS input, Is that means I cannot get it from TDA4VM ?

    I also cannot find DPI0/1, do you mean DP0 and DP1 ?

    Best Regards,

    Brahim

  • Brahim,

DPI is parallel RGB/YUV output. Please note that this requires external serializer to convert to LVDS output.

When you LVDS, is it just differential signal?

Even eDP output is differential signal.  So you could eDP/DP output if that is your requirement.

It cannot output directly LVDS/FPD link from DSS, you need to use external serializer.

  • Hi Brijesh,

my LVDS is just differential signal, my issue is that I want to test an external serializer and its input is LVDS !

should I convert for example the RGB signal come from DP connector to LVDS using an adapter ?

About display port connector : Does it generate only RGB/YUV parallel signals via this port or it can also generate other signal such HDMI ?

    Thank you,

    Brahim

  • Hello Brahim,

eDP is also serial LVDS output signal, but it uses different protocol than HDMI. So you would require external adapter to convert from eDP to LVDS (FPD Link, or whatever serializer expects).

Another option is, you could use parallel output, and convert it into LVDS using external adapter.

Yes, both the output options will support either RGB or YUV output format.

    Regards,

    Brijesh
