TMS320C6414: C64x Emulators

Good evening,

i ve the necessity to connect with a board with DSP TMS320C6414.

Can you indicate some usb emulator that permit to connect to this Device? (I see the emulators have support for C64x+ family but C64x no).

Hi, Fabio,

I found Emulation and Trace Headers Technical Reference Manual (Rev. I) in C6414 product folder. Can you look into the list in "2 Adapters" to see if any one of them can be used with C6414. I hope there is one that support C6414 and can be used.

Hi Rex,

another question is i see in the Blackhaw comparison that CCS 3.3 have a checkbox orange (enhanced Feature) for the USB100v2. Whats mean? Is compatible this emulator with ccs 3.3?

Hi!

With this processor we have successfully used

TI XDS560 PCI type emulator. Still runs under Windows 7 and works with CCS 3.3 with some tricks
Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB. Still works under Windows 10, CCS 3.3 in virtual machine
Blackhawk XDS560 USB/Ethernet

Fabio,

It seems that some of our pages are incorrect. Over the years, support was added for the C64x family of devices to both the XDS560v2 and the XDS100v2. However, the latter is not recommended due to its very slow speed on DSPs in general.

The orange dot enhanced feature in the Blackhawk tables shows they extended the TI XDS100v2 specification and added support for CCSv3.3.

Also, over the years Blackhawk also created an extension to support CCSv3.3 with their XDS200 and XDS560v2 - there are several disclaimers about support on their page:

Fabio,

One additional detail: since I don't have access to my C64x boards due to the quarantine, I can't fully test this combination of Debug Probe and device to see if there may be any issues that go beyond the simple ability to configure CCS and connect to the device.
