TDA4VM: TDA4VM, SERDES REFCLK (internal output)

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi,

There are some questions for SERDESx ports and would like to get your comments.

1. We would like to used the SERDES REFCLKx output from TDA4 to Device. Is it ready for using?

2. If we set the SERDES0 for PCIE0(TX0/RX0) & SGMII(TX1/RX1), can the both functions work simultaneously? Can the PCIE_REFCLK0 support from TDA4 to output to Device?

3. If we set the SERDES1 for PCIE1(TX0/RX0) & USB3.0(TX1/RX1), can the both functions work simultaneously? Can the PCIE_REFCLK1 support from TDA4 to output to Device?

4. If we set the SERDES4 for DP, does it need to inout the SERDES4 REFCLK from external?

Thanks,

Evan

  • Hi Evan,

    1. Yes, REFCLK can be output

    2. Yes, the two lanes of 2-L Serdes can be used independently. REFCLK can be output, it is particulary needed for PCIe 100-MHz clock.

    3. Yes, the two lanes of 2-L Serdes can be used independently. REFCLK can be output, it is particulary used for PCIe 100-MHz clock. Note that to SERDES1, you can link only the USB1 instance (and not USB0). Note that USB Type-C (reversible) connector will not be possible as it needs one additional lane.

    4. No need for REFCLK for eDP.
