TDA4VM: the EVM output signals

Part Number: TDA4VM

Dear experts,

I have some Serializer/Deserializer families to test such as UB940 941 927 928...etc and I want to use TDA4VM with J721E SoC to generate the signals that will go to input of serializer.

Can you please tell if the following signals can be generated by Jacinto 7 soc with this boad and in which hardware interface ?

RGB (single-ended signal)

LVDS (differential signal)

HDMI

MIPI DSI

MIPI CSI-2 (as an input)

Thanks in advance.

Ayoub

  • The TDA4VM EVM User Guide should help define which interfaces are available on the EVM, and how to access them.  The RGB interfaces is connected to the expansion connector, and when used with the Infotainment Expansion board - will connect the RGB interface to TVP410 (HDMI transmitter).  HDMI is not native interface of TDA4VM (DisplayPort is native), but as previously mentioned - HDMI can be supported via expansion interface.

The TDA4VM EVM support 2 MIPI-CSI2 interfaces, connected to the Serial Capture Expansion Interface.  When used in combination with the Fusion or Fusion2 Expansion boards, up to 8 cameras can be connected simultaneously.  MIPI-DSI is supported, and connected to an on-board FPD-Link transmitter.

  • Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply, it's very helpful.

    1) Do you have an idea how RGB 24 bits is being generated from J7 SoC ? I mean from which interface on the SoC it's being generated before going to the expansion connector.

    2) Is it possible to connect the output of deserializer UB940 ( it's a MIPI CSI-2) to the CSI-2 connector of the board directly without using Fusion board ?

    Thank you,

    Ayoub

  • VOUT0 is the RGB interface that is connected to the expansion interfaces.

Regarding the UB940 connection to the J7ES EVM...no issue connecting a UB940 CSI2 output to the CSI2 inputs of the EVM. However - looking at the pictures of the UB940 EVM - its appears the connectors are not compatible with J7 EVM.  Thus - some type of adapter would be needed.  That is the benefit of using Fusion board with UB960 (boards directly plug together).
