Creating i2c device nodes

Hi to all!

I'm new using the AM3517 and the TI SDK. I'm trying to write an application to read the I/O expander available on the eXperimenter board. Nevertheless, I'm not able to find the i2c-x devices on /dev. The kernel has been properly set up for I2C support. Can someone help me in getting to know what is the best way to create this device nodes?

If I remember correctly, the IO expanders are registered and exported as standard Linux GPIO interface, you should be able to access as a standard GPIO.

I was unable to access the /dev/i2c-x devices until I ensured that both "Device Drivers->I2C Support" (enabled by default) and "Device Drivers->I2C Support->I2C device interface" (not enabled by default) were selected for kernel compilation. Once those were built into the kernel the interfaces appeared right away.

You are right. I was missing this option that I taught it was enable by default.
