TDA4VM: PSDK-related question (MCAN MCUSS/Linux A72)

Hi,

I'm working with 6.02 version of PSDK and I'm trying to find/understand off-the-shelf CAN examples for Linux/A72.

Couple of questions:

1. mcusw/mcal_drv/mcal/examples directory contains samples supposed to
work only in AUTOSAR environment, while mcusw/mcuss_demos/ are supposed
to work without AUTOSAR. Is my understanding correct or I mixed something?

2. I'm trying to find A72 Linux matching part for
mcusw/mcuss_demos/inter_core_comm/ipc_remote sample, maybe it is meant to work only with TI RTOS on A72?

We do not have a Linux driver for CAN and this is not planned. We recommend controlling the CAN with R5F core.

The off-the-shelf CAN examples come with the mcusw and pdk components.

The examples under mcusw/mcal_drv/mcal/examples are driver specific examples used for driver testing.

The demos under mcusw/mcuss_demos/ are demos which might integrate more than one components. So basically both the examples as well as the demos are AUTOSAR based.

Hi Karan,

Thanks for reply. So, currently, there is no CAN application sample to run on R5F MCU domain core without Autosar (only sysbios based)?

Hi Grigory,

You can actually refer to an MCAN example in PDK, this does not use AUTOSAR but this is a baremetal example. We can easily take reference from there and create a SYSBIOS application.

The application is under /mnt/hdd2/psdk_rtos_auto_j7_06_02_00_21/pdk/packages/ti/csl/example/mcan/mcanEvmLoopback.

# building the example
cd <PATH_TO_SDK>/pdk/packages/ti/build
make csl_mcan_evm_loopback_app -sj

The above application directly uses the CSL-FL for MCAN and does not involve any other layer in the middle. Let me know if this works for you.
