AM3357: RTOS secure boot

Part Number: AM3357
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PROFIBUS, AMIC120, AM4379, AM4377, AMIC110, AM3359

Hi,

Please find below 3 questions regarding AM3357 that my customer intends to use for factory automation products:

Secure Boot

AM3357 will be used in products belonging to SL2 category (cyber security IEC 62443-4-2), therefore a Secure Boot is required.
We will need to understand what the term means in the AM3357 datasheet:
Secure Boot (optional; requires custom ... engagement with TI)

and understand if my customer case falls into this category?

Protocols
The protocols provided for operation are as follows:
Profinet
Ethercat
Ethernet IP
Profisafe
Powerlink

I see from the document "Sitara Software and Tools Overview" on page 16 the list of these protocols but there is a distinction between Evaluation and Production, the latter licenses are therefore paid and must be considered separately? I am referring in particular to Profinet, but in general also the others.
For Ethercat we have the ETG membership.
From previous activities we have purchased from the suppliers Molex for the Ethernet IP and Port (www.port.de) for the Powerlink (and not Kallkitech), the latter is not in the list of official suppliers, is to be considered no longer used and therefore it is necessary an update through Kallkitech?
I don't see much info about Profisafe, knowing that it is a profile of the profibus, I ask if indirectly it is already included in the profibus package or to be considered separately?

Memory
Considering that we want to use RTOS, we are wondering what the memory footprint may be needed to contain all the OS and the above stacks.

Available for clarification,
Antonio

  • Antonio,

I will route some of your questions to marketing folks, but yes 'between Evaluation and Production, the latter licenses are therefore paid and must be considered separately'.

Profisafe is not included in Profibus package we publish.

Will get you details on the memory footprints.

    Regards,
    Garrett

  • Hi Garrett,

Could you please elaborate the answer for all the questions posted? Customer needs to know also prices for royalties and so on so to present final customer a business plan.

    BR,

    Antonio

  • HI Antonio,

I relay the message here so other customers can refer to:

    ----------------------------

Customers have to pay for stacks for Profinet and EtherNet/IP. Firmware is provided by TI, but stacks are licensed from TMG. The exact price is something that gets negotiated between TMG and the customer, but they can request a quote by sending an email to info@tmgte.de

In the case of EtherCAT, the stack is free but we have a special part number that enables EtherCAT which customers have to purchase. For AM335x, it’s either AM3357 or AM3359. For AM437x, it’s either AM4377 or AM4379. AMIC110 and AMIC120 both have this enabled as well.

    Regards,

    Garrett
