LLD issue C6474

In the release notes of the EDMA3_LLD_01_10_00_01 (for DSP/BIOS v5.3x) one of the "known issues" is:

Intermittent hang observed on one of the DSP cores when data transfers are triggered on all the 3 cores.

Intermittent hang is observed on one of the DSP cores of TCI6488 when data transfers are triggered on all the three cores simultaneously. Moreover, the hang is not always 100% reproducible. The issue needs further analysis and will be fixed in future EDMA3 LLD release.

In the release for EDMA3_LLD_02_00_01_04 (for DSP/BIOS 6.x) however, this issue is not mentioned, nor is a fix.

Is the issue resolved in the 2.0 release? I am using a C6474 and want to make sure I can safely use EDMA3 with all 3 cores using the LLD libs.

Some more info:

I'm referring to page 7 of the document "EDMA3 Driver Release version 01.10.00.XX Release Notes July 13, 2009" which is included in the "EDMA3_LLD_01_10_00_01" install.

Anybody know the status of this issue in the" EDMA3_LLD_02_00_01_04" release?

Dirk,

Since the issue is not mentioned in the later document, it must mean that the issue has been resolved. If it was an LLD software issue then it must have been solved, or else it would have been carried forward until a fix was confirmed. It would be best if we had a firm confirmation of that.

The software driver experts are in the BIOS forum, so we will have this thread moved there to see if someone can give you a confirming answer.

I'm confused about the LLD versioning: normally I'd just take the latest version to base my work on. In this case I cannot, as I am using DSP/BIOS 5.33 and LLD v2.00 is only for DSP/BIOS 6.x. I would expect the LLD libs 1.10 and 2.00 to contain the same core code (one is pretty much a branch of the other right?), but assuming you're right, they are different.

What do you advise? I'm afraid I cannot switch to DSP/BIOS 6.x for a while yet (although I'd like to...).

Not yet, I guess nobody uses LLD :). Any help would greatly be appreciated. So far I haven't had any issues, but I'd like to be sure.

An additional question came up: Why does LLD EDMA3 LLD 02.00 not have support for any devices other than the DA830 platform? This seems to suggest it is a separate branch. The library is great, I just would like to be sure there are no issues on C6474, and, what do I use when I switch to BIOS6.x in the future?

It would be great is someone can refer a LLD developer to this thread.

Dirk,

Intermittent hang on one of the DSP core for C6474 is already fixed in DSP/BIOS 6.
The release (EDMA3_LLD_02_11_01_02) will be externally available by Feb 21, 2011.

The fix will be available for DSP/BIOS 5 as well by Mar 04, 2011.
