AM4376: VDD_MPU_MON pin

Hi champs,

customer is about designing with AM4376 and need to know, how to handle D20 vdd_mpu_mon:

1. What is function og this pin ?

2. What happens, if pin is not connected (DS page 64 (30)) ?

    Hi,

    Note 20 below Table 4-10 in the AM437x Datasheet Rev. E clearly states:

    "This terminal provides a Kelvin connection to VDD_MPU. It can be connected to the power supply feedback input to provide remote sensing which compensates for voltage drop in the PCB power distribution network and package. When the Kelvin connection is not used it should be connected to the same power source as VDD_MPU."

    I think that answers both of your questions.

    not 100% answered...

    Customer still has an AM437 Design with VDD_MPU left open.

    He wants to clarify, which risk this means in the field. Up to now he found no issues!

    Hi,

    This terminal provides a Kelvin connection to VDD_MPU. There will likely be no issues if it's left open, however this is not the recommended connection. Note 30 below Table 4-10 in the AM437x Datasheet Rev. E also requires that this pin be connected to VDD_MPU when the feedback feature is not used.
