Hi experts,

I want to use MAIN_I2C0 in TIRTOS which run in main_r5f_0_0, and i call the following funciton to enable MAIN_I2C0:

handle = Board_getI2CHandle(BOARD_SOC_DOMAIN_MAIN,0);
CpswAppUtils_assert(handle != NULL);
Board_i2c8BitRegRd(handle,0x6d,i,&data,0x1,2000u);

Why the RTOS always stuck at the below place?

/* wait for bus busy */
while(I2CMasterBusBusy(hwAttrs->baseAddr)==0)
{
}

How to init a i2c bus in TI-RTOS?

Hi Hutian,

How are you booting the app? Is it along with linux or somethin?

Yes, the RTOS app is booting by u-boot .

Hi Hutian,

The problem will most likely be that the I2C you are trying to use is a conflicting resource between RTOS(R5F) and Linux(A72).

If the above is the only problem then I would expect that you would be able run the application standalone (from CCS or SBL).

Can you please give that a shot?

Hi Karan,

Restrict by the custom board, i can't set the BOOTMODE pin for NO BOOT mode. But i try another way to enable i2c read/write in RTOS:

1. Enable dts of the I2C node in u-boot

2.Try to read a the register of the slave i2c deivce in u-boot by:

tmp = uclass_get_device_by_seq(UCLASS_I2C, 2, &bus);
tmp += dm_i2c_probe(bus, 0x6d, 0, &dev1);
if(!tmp){
tmp += dm_i2c_read(dev1,0x00,&val,1);}

3. Then i can call Board_i2c8BitRegRd/Board_i2c8BitRegWr to read/write in RTOS.

I don't know why ?

Hi Hutian,

If the sole purpose is to use I2C from R5F (running RTOS) I would suggest the simplest would be to use SBL to boot the RTOS application on R5F.

Are you aware on how to use SBL to boot an application?

Hi Karan,

I'm aware on whether SBL can booting three R5Fs with RTOS and A72 with linux. If yes, how to booting those cores with the SBL?

Hi Hutian,

SBL booting Linux on A72 and other apps on other cores is still not a completely supported feature. We have an application http://downloads.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-rtos-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/mcusw/mcal_drv/docs/drv_docs/demo_boot_app_mcu_rtos_top.html but not all applications can be loaded using this. So I will not suggest that.

Coming now to what can be done, are you loading you application as a firmware and putting it in /lib/firmware of the filesystem? And is that how you are getting stuck on the I2C? Is this some application in the SDK? If yes, I can reproduce here locally and give you a more pointed answer.

Hi Karan,

Yes, i use /lib/firmware to store the RTOS app, and load the RTOS in U-boot. Our custom board needs to enable a clock chip CDCE937 by I2C bus and i put it in the ethfw module. Do you know whether exists a way to "Lock" this i2c module and don't let other cores to access it?
