DRA829VXEVM: Configuring video output to DSI

Hi,

I'm running the out-of-box single camera demo. I can see the video output on the DP display.

I would like to route the video output to the DSI connector at the bottom of the EVM.

Will it suffice to modify the /vision_apps/apps/basic_demos/app_tirtos/comm/app_cfg_mcu2_1.h file, in which I should define/undefine the ENABLE_DSS?

    DSI is currently supported/tested only for one LCD, which is connected to DSI output via 941-924 SERDES combo. If you have this LCD, you could enable DSI output in the above file.

    Do you mean by connecting display with SERDES to the 'FPD_Panel' connector (J45) on the EVM?

    Can you advice P/N of this module? What should be done in order to utilize the DSI connector?

    Does TI have any planes to support it in the SDK?

    Yes, this is correct connector. You could find this LCD information at 

    http://www.spectrumdigital.com/1280x800-display-multi-touch-touchscreen-with-924-fpd-link-interface-kit-evm5777lcdts-v4-0/.

    As of now, no plan to support other LCD.

    The DSI interface which is routed to the 941 serializer, can also be connected to the FPC connector, according to the schematics, by removing and adding some resistors.

    So the DSI interface can be driven in the same manner, but only routed to the FPC.

    Can you please explain?

    I am sorry, i did not get your question.

    Yes, DSI could be routed to DSI connector. 

    But as of now, this interface is not validated.

    I tried to connect the LCD panel to the 'FPD_Panel' connector (J45) on the EVM.

    I defined the ENABLE_DSS_DSI and undefined the ENABLE_DSS_EDP, ENABLE_DSS_HDMI and commented out the ENABLE_CSI2TX.

    However, I don't see the video on the panel and a lot of errors occur. By "this interface is not validated" you mean that even via the SERDES it wasn't verified?

  • Hi Matan,

    The DSI output via SERDES is only verified. The other interface is not verified.

    Which example are you trying to run? In many examples, output resolution is hard coded to 1080p, so display might be failing. We need to change target frame size to 1280x800 for DSI output in the example.
