TDA4VM:Ethernet Switch issue

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi TEAM.

The Ethernet port of TDA4VM is expected to use 4 Ethernet interfaces, 2 with TSN, 2 Non-TSN,

To achieve the state that TSN, Non-TSN mixed network is available at the same time,

What should I do in the hardware or software planning of the Ethernet Port, can it be fully connected to the Ethernet Switch?

There are still other connections.

  • Geralt,

I'm looking into our planning to confirm, but have some clarification questions to help properly answer.

You are looking to use 4 of the CPSW9G ports. 2 with TSN and 2 non-TSN. Are you looking at a specific switching functionality to be implemented, or is it that you need your outbound traffic to be shaped on the 2 TSN ports but not on the other two?

What is meant by "there are still other connections?"

    Best regards,

    Dave

  • Hi Dave,

I need to implement a specific switching function on the two TSN ports. The TSN LAN internally guarantees its immediacy, guaranteed maximum delay, or coexistence with the background or other traffic, while the other two ports do not need to be. Can they be mixed in an Ethernet switch?
Or must use "USB to Ethernet" to connect 2 non-TSN

    Best regards,

    Geralt

  • Geralt,

I didn't answer your question. Within the switch hardware on TDA4, the traffic scheduling is on the egress configuration of each port. So you can configure TSN on two port and not on the other two within the CPSW.

That said, we do not currently have this supported in the Processor SDK release, but from a hardware provisioning standpoint, you can assume you are able to connect the four ports of the CPSW as you describe.

    Best regards,

    Dave
