TDA3XEVM: Resizer locks up when upscaling

Also does the downscaling work fine?

I have a sensor that produces 640x480, and use 640x480 video output to the HDMI connector. I use only resizer A. All that works fine

My customer would like a zoom function, so for that I change the resizer input config to 320x240 before starting the pipeline, and that results in a hangup of the resizer block (IssM2mIspLink_drvProcessFrame never gets called). If I change the input config to 320x480, so only upscale x, everything works as expected.

I did modify the IssM2mIspLink a bit, enabling the IPIPE block to do signal processing. IPIPE spits out YUV422 to the resizer.

I've gone through the resizer registers and they all look OK to me:

Any hints you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean that you are reading 640x480 resolution as input frame, crop it to 320x240 and then upscale it to 640x480? 

Please note that cropping is not supported in scalar.

That was the idea, yes.

What is scalar, and why does it not support cropping?

Can you think of a different way to support a zoom function?

Hi Andrian,

One possible way is just to move pointer in the input buffer and set the entire input frame size to smaller one.

Lets say if you want to zoom in center portion of 640x480 image, you could just move pointer to pixel location 160 and set the frame size to 320x240 and then upscale to 640x480 resolution.

So am i understanding correctly that I could do it as follows:

- change the frame size to 640x240 at the input of the issM2mIspLink,

- move the received buffer pointer (that is pointing to a 640x480 image) down by 120 lines (in IssM2mIspLink_drvProcessFrame function?)

- have the resizer do the horizontal cropping / zooming

Is this correct?

Yes, use cropping module for one direction and move pointer for the other direction..
