AM5726: Sitara compared to k2g and k2e

Part Number: AM5726

Hi

We have been developing and testing software and harware around c6000 + Arm prosessors, but now sitara prosessors with dsp start to look more tempting. What are thi biggest differences between these two prosessor families. Can I fir example control the hardware (for example pcie) from the DSP side also on sitara or it there some limitations.

Best regards

  • Tommi,

The devices share a number of similarities, particularly if looking at the AM570x/1x and K2G, which each have a single A15 core and single C66x core. The AM572x/4x have two A15 cores and two C66x cores. There are differences in the peripheral mix and operating profiles for each.

In terms of the core usage and integration into the SoC there are similarities and differences. In particular, the K2G device allows more flexibility in the C66x being the primary core (boot, C66x-only operation), and for the AM57 the A15 is always the primary core.

The C66x does have direct access to the SoC memory map and peripherals in both families, and the Processor SDK includes examples for the same.

    Hopefully this is helpful.

    Best regards,

    Dave
