Windows Embedded Compact 7 Sample OSDesign

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi,

I am a new guy on Windows Embedded Compact 7, and try to make it running on TI EVM3530, I have got the Windows Embedded Compact 7 Installed on my PC, but I am not sure how to make an OSdesign to make it work on TI EVM3530.

Would someone here give me one copy of sample OSdesign that can work on TI EVM3530, Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,

Stephen Zhang

  • Where did you get the EC7 drop from? If it is from Microsoft's CTP then OMAP3530 is already a supported platform in that release. We cannot distribute anything related to EC7 before RTM

    thanks

    Atul

  • Hi, Atul

    Thanks a lot.

    I download EC7 from Microsoft's CTP, and I know it supports OMAP3530.

What I want to know is how to select OMAP3530 Device Driver and WCE7 component to design an OSdesign, the OSDesign is the files under WINCE700\OSDesigns folder.

  • Hi,

To create an OS design , use File->New->Project and use the "handheld" template. Default os design is not provided as part of the wce 7.0 installation.

Build solution will then create the OS design for you.

    regards,

    Aparna

  • Thanks a lot.

I will have a try later.

  • Hi, all

I have tried. After finishing building the solution, I copy MLO,EBOOTSD.nb0 and nk.bin into SDCard.

I powered the board and the board started up, the console terminal turned up as follow:

    Then, the system hanged up.

    Why this happen?

  • Hi,

Could you confirm that you used the TI SDCard utility to write the MLO, ebootsd.nb0 and NK.bin to the SD card?

    Thanks,

    Aparna

  • Hi, Aparna

    I am sure that.

When I replaced the WinCE 7.0 nk.bin with WinCE6.0 nk.bin, it works well.

Could this happen when something selected is not correct?

  • Stephen,

Are you able to boot NK.bin from platform builder? I dont seem to have success with booting the image from SD card on the 6.13-based ce7 release either.

    regards,

    Aparna

  • Hi phoenixtju - I have the exact same problem as you describe above, with the same error.

Did you manage to find a solution?

    Tim

  • Tim61732,
Try interrupting the boot, then go into the flash management settings in your loader. Ensure the setting for flashing nk.bin to nand is disabled. Also ensure the ECC setting under Set ECC mode is the same as in the demo folder you got it from or your design settings if you are building your own.

  • Hi Aparna,

Am also facing the same problem. AM building WinCe 7.0 TI Omap 3530 EVM BSP os image and tried to boot up my Devkit8000 board which is TI Omap 3530 processor family using the SD card. But its not booting up.

As u mentioned, no one has succeeded in booting up using SD card r8? is there any alternative ways which someone has tried and succeeded in booting up the board? Please provide me the suggestion.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tajpeer

  • Hi Tajpeer,

Can you please tell me as to how you got the WinCE6 nk.bin image file. If you could attach the mlo, ebootsd.nb0 and nk.bin of wince6 .

    Thanks in advance,

    Sharon
