Virtual COM or Ethernet on USB

Hi,

I need to transfer raw images from front end of C6748 to PC using USB. Currently I have application that runs on 6435 using BIOS that I will port to c6748 (without USB).

First of all how do you suggest me to do it? And I mean using USB BIOS (on JUNGO) which I understood (from forum) is not so suggested or build customized a stack? Can you explain to me why USB BIOS on Jungo not suggestible? What is it limitations? Can you provide me with examples on PC and embedded sides with emphasizes on PC side (windows XP and upper)?
If it is not suggestible to use USB BIOS for my purpose is it possible to build USB driver so it will be recognized as virtual COM or Ethernet using this DSP? Can you provide me with examples, links or some other directions?

If it possible I don't want to waste time on building USB driver on PC side, so I search for this kind of solution.

Can you use a TCP/IP stack for this?

The NDK 2.20 has support for 6748. The core stack can be found at the first link below. The network support package (NSP) for the evm6748 on 2nd link.

The NDK 2.00 contained support for the evm6437 which should have same EMAC as the 6435. The EMAC driver from NDK 2.00 can be used with 2.20.

Are you looking for an Ethernet/Serial kind of USB class support on C6748 for your usecase?

The current JUNGO BIOSUSB device stack supports only mass storage and HID. We don’t have support on CDC/RNDIS/Serial Audio/video classes on Jungo stack. Please refer to BIOSUSB guide for more information.

Hi,

From the release both of NDK and NSP I saw that both not suports CCS 3.3:

Compatibility Information

This release must be used with following component versions (or higher):

BIOS
- DSP/BIOS 5.41.05.20
- OR
- SYS/BIOS 6.30.02.42

CCS 4.2
XDCtools 3.20.03.63
C674X: C6000 Code Generation Tools 7.0.0

Is it correct? I am using CCS 3.3.82.13.

Dani,

Yes, these versions of the NDK and NSP are only officially supported for CCSv4, not for CCSv3.

The NSP contains example project files that are CCSv4 only projects. There are no CCSv3 example projects.

Having said that, you would still be able to *link* against the latest NDK libraries from within your CCSv3 project in order to build against the latest. But, if you wish to start with the NDK examples for evm 6748, then you would need CCSv4 to build those.

Do you mean use TCP/IP over USB or use general Ethernet?

I can't use general Ethernet and how can I use TCP/IP stack over USB?

Hi Dani,

I was responding to your question about NDK compatibility with CCS versions, etc.

The NDK TCP/IP stack does not support USB, it is Ethernet only.
