Can I connect the HDMI output to a HDMI monitor?

I have tried enabling the DVI output and adding the commands in SW and I still do not get any picture on the HDMI monitor. I know the underlining interface is DVI, and I would hope that an HDCP compliant would accept content that is unprotected, but if not then that would explain the problem.

Also, where can I find a known good demo that would send data to the HDMI output? I have tried running the /usr/tests/omap-demo but it doesn't show anything on the monitor.

of course you can. Did you enable the HDMI output using Switch 8 of S7?

In addition you need to tell the kernel what resolution you want using boot args. Check the docs or wikis for details. The resolution and timing needs to match the data of your monitor.

Jeff,

You do not need to worry about HDCP since there is no HDCP cipher on the transmitter.

Yes, I have enabled the HDMI output and changed the bootargs (sorry for being vague in the initial post).

Can the AM3517 EVM drive 1920x1080@60Hz?

No, the output is limited to 74.25MHz max pixel rate.

This allows 1080i60, 720p60, 1080p30, 1080p24 etc...

Sorry, I included 1080i60 but the AM3517 does not support interlaced output.

I have tried several different resolutions that I know my monitor supports (1280x720@60, 800x600@60, 1024x768@60).

I am trying to use the omap-demo application that came with the tarball of the root fs.

Do you know of a known good application for the AM3517 that will work with the HDMI connector? Do I need to recompile the omap-demo for the AM3517?

Jeff,

there are more options in DSS to support different timing modes. Some screens are quite picky and if the freqeuncy is just one Hz off they do not show a picture.

For further help we would need a dump of your bootargs and the kernel log during boot.
