Hi,TI

Refer to a goose demo supplied by TI, I develop Goose application on am572x (AM572x Industrial EVM,Rev 1.3B ).

The demo is base on SDK 02.00.02.11 ,it use IPU1 to send&recieve goose packet,and use messageQ to communicate with A15.

but now we use SDK 06.03.00.106 in our project. I try to migrate this demo to SDK 06.03.00.106,but programe compile

failed because there are too many differences in icss_emac driver code between this two sdk. it will cost much time to modify this demo to adapt to the new

sdk,and the modification may cause other problem,can you supply such demo base on SDK 06.03.00.106?

Let me check with the owner but typically reference designs are not revised from SDK to SDK.

Sorry. There is no plan to migrate the reference design to new SDK right now so we won't be able to help.

Thanks for your reply,I refer to the TIDEP0074 design,if there is no plan to migrate,can you support a demo whicn can send&recive data from PRU-ICSS&EMAC?

It's already supported, refer to the icss_emac example inside PDK.

Hi Vineet

I am already created ccs project ICSS_EMAC_BasicExample_idkAM572x_wSoCFile_m4Testproject in

path: pdk_am57xx_1_0_17/packages/MyExampleProjects. after build this project , a .out file can be compiled,

how can i run this file in IPU1? or i should migrate these files to my own projects?

My plan is migrate icss_emac sources to ipc demo,use IPU1 to control emac tx&rx messages directly,A15 will not control the ethnet,PRU

will not be used,is this a right idea?

Hi,

You can run the .out file using CCS and JTAG.

To run it on M4 you need to enable all cores...follow this example

Launch target configurations after connecting JTAG to EVM.
Right click CortexA15_0 and connect target.
On CCS –> Scripts –> AM572 Multicore Initialization –> Run AM572x Multicore EnableAllCore
Connect to Cortex M4 and load your application.

TI : Better option would be to do IPC between Cortex A15 and IPU1 for the data you need. Some modifications would be needed to run icss_emac on IPU1

out project is base on GOOSE protocol,A15 run referenece applications on linux. ipu1 run ti-rtos to guarantee real-time performance,we use messageQ to do IPC between A15 and IPU1,

Ethernet&emac is controlled by IPU1,TI told me that PRU is necessary to satisfied GOOSE timming requirement.IPC demo already work well between A15 and IPU1,so,my next work is to

migrate the icss_emac on IPU1,and should i develop PRU FW in the future? any support?

You will have to migrate the EMAC driver to IPU1 and configure all interrupts from PRU to A15 to go to IPU1 instead. It's possible I guess but will require some effort and TI won't support it.

There's also the question of whether IPU1 will be able to handle all the traffic.

PRU FW will remain unchanged except for minor changes to interrupt configuration.
