AM3356: Replacement with AM3356

Part Number: AM3356
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

We received the following questions from our customers in order to develop new products.

Real-time performance is a problem, and we are considering replacing AM3352 with AM3356.
・Is the AM3356BZCZ80 pin compatible with the AM3352BZCZ80?
・Are there any precautions to take when transferring from AM3352 to AM3356?

Your prompt support would be highly appreciated, thank you!

  • Hey Kota,

    Please see the following answers:

    • Is the AM3356BZCZ80 pin compatible with the AM3352BZCZ80?

Yes, these parts are pin compatible.

For more information please refer to the Device Comparison table located in in Chapter 3 of the datasheets.

The AM3356 device includes the Programmable real-time unit subsystem and industrial communication subsystem (PRU-ICSS) (more details in datasheet above)

The PRU-ICSS signals are often pin-multiplexed with other device peripheral signals. Certain use cases may lead to pin incompatibilities with existing hardware or system designs. You can use https://dev.ti.com/sysconfig/#/start to check compatibility.

The PRU-ICSS can enable certain Real-time performance requirements, but we would need more information on why:
