TDA4VM: Regarding tool to FLASH eMMC directly

Dear TI,

We have tried DFU tool, UNIFLASH tool, TI Debugger, OSPI over UART and UART to flash into the eMMC. We also used Ethernet TFTP/NFS to flash RootFS after booting from OSPI.

Is there any special tool from TI with which we can directly flash both U-boot binaries and rootfs ?

UNIFLASH old versions supported this but i guess due to speed constraints or so it supports only u-boot binaries to be flashed over uniflash util. Our aim is to do everything from LINUX host PC.

Just to be clear here we have used the above methods already and we are looking for a solution with which we can flash using a cost effective method (BOM limitations) .

Hi Manish,

Apologies for a late response. Can you please let me know what all interfaces will you be having in the custom board?

The fastest would be to use SD boot and flash eMMC using that but if SD interface will not be there on the custom board then you can go for dfu-util.

Hi Karan,

For the particular version of custom board we have SD card and we have created a script to copy the rootfs in emmc and it is working fine for us.

We have Ethernet for sure in the next samples therefore we have also created a script with primary boot method OSPI and secondary eMMC (u-boot prompt should pop up , doesn't method SD card or OSPI).

Hi Manish,

So then you are already using the fastest SD boot -> copy to eMMC method currently. And also ETH interface will the next best to flash to eMMC if you don't have an SD card interface.
