TDA4VMXEVM: Trying to load binaries with 0

Hi,

We followed the instruction to load binaries on target to the TDAx4 EVM.
In section 6.4:

we are running the 'LoadJsFile' as described in figure 6.5 we get the following message:

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -260 @ 0x0)
An attempt to connect to the XDS110 failed.
The cause may be one or more of: no XDS110 is connected, invalid
firmware update, invalid XDS110 serial number, or faulty USB
cable. The firmware and serial number may be updated using the
xdsdfu utility found in the .../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110
directory of your installation. View the ReadMe.txt file there
for instructions.

Why is that?

Is there any other way to load binaries?
Do we must purchase that XDS110 device?
Are the supplied drivers not support a PC USB to XDS110/Emulator direct cable connection?

Hi Neta,

To connect using xds110 you just need to connect to the J3 Connector (XDS110 is written on the side of it, it is on one of the corners of the EVM). Once you connect that you can follow the instructions. No additional HW or drivers are needed.

Also there are other ways to load an app, using SBL. But the above should also work.

Also you need to be in "no boot mode" https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-rtos-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/psdk_rtos_auto/docs/user_guide/evm_setup_j721e.html#no-boot-mode

Hi Karan,

Thanks for the quick prompt.
Just to clarify:

All we need is just a USB cable from the PC-USB directly to the TDAx4 J3 connector, is that correct?
Are you sure that there is no need fro the https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDSEMU110-U tool?

As per that, if we don't need that too, why do we get this error?
Please assume that we are in 'no-boot-mode'.

Hi Neta,

Yes there is no need for the tool. It should be just the USB from PC to J3. (please make sure there is no USB expander in the middle, that could sometimes create issues.

I think if the above is OK then there could be a problem with the driver. Are you on Windows or Linux? I want you to check if you are able to see the xds110 device. On windows you can check it in the Device Manager -> Ports.

Hi Karan,

While following the instructions at the 'XDS110SupportReadMe.pdf', we got a connection with the XDS port and also succeeded to upload the firmware.

And we got this error:

Why is that?

The error is:

Error connecting to the target:

(Error -2131@0x0)

Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Emulation package 8.4.0.00006)

BTW - We also set the clock to 100Khz, it's lowest freq.

Please specify other values that we may enter that gui.
