Hi experts,

I am quite confused about the Ethernet part of TDA4VM. Why the MCU_CPSW2G's driver puts in the Linux system and the MAIN_CPSW9G's driver puts in the MAIN_RTOS? And TI uses a remote server feature to make Linux System have a virtual ethernet device but not placing the CPSW9G's driver in Linux. By the way, is it possible to drive the CPSW9G in Linux?

You're referring to the defaults in the Processor SDK. In the default configuration, CPSW2G is owned directly by Linux and CPSW9G is not. It is possible for the CPSW2G to be owned instead by an R5F (see examples in the MCUSW package).

The CPSW9G must be owned by one of the R5F cores running the Ethernet Firmware. Linux can support the CPSW9G through a virtual driver, as outlined in http://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/Kernel/Kernel_Drivers/Network/J7_CPSW9g_virt_mac.html?highlight=ethernet#part-family-name-cpsw9g-virtual-mac-remoteproc.

We do not plan to support the CPSW9G exclusively from Linux without the Ethernet Firmware on R5F.
