VAUX4 and DM3730

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950, DM3730

Hi,

I am designing a board with DM3730 (CBP package) and power companion TPS65950.

When I look at some design references I keep seeing that DM3730 pin AG20 (VDDS) is connected to TPS65950 pin B2 (VCCAUX4). I know that this same pin AG20 was formerly used as VDDS_CSI2 in previous generations of the OMAP processor. However the latest DM3730 datasheet says that pin AG20 is a regular vdds pin.

My question is; can I safely connect pin AG20 to regular 1.8V?

I would like to avoid the VCCAUX4 connection if possible. This way I wouldn't need to put the 1uF capacitor on VAUX4.OUT because I wouldn't be using it.

  Thanks.

  • The AG20 pad can be combined with the other VDDS power supplies and VDDS should always be powered. Therefore if VDDS is already powered by the other power supply, you don't need to use VCCAUX4 to power the AG20 pad.

  • Thank you very much for that clear answer.

From your answer I understand that the same directive also applies to pin AG21 (formerly VDDS_DSI), as well as all other pins that are now labeled as VDDS. I must say I find it very confusing when I look at sample schematics and see that these VDDS pins are connected to separate regulators.

    Thanks,

    Yannick.
