warning: section spans page boundary (Using C5509A with CCS4)

The C5509A has CPU version 2.x which has limited page boundary. All of the sectoins should be within 64K page boundary.

My CPU version is supporting more than 64k page bounday because when I use CCS3.1, it doesn't give me warning. My program works fine. Where can I tell CCS4 the info regarding CPU version so that it doesn't give me warning ?

I am using CCS4. Where can I add this info ? How can put enter chip and revision info ?

Tool Settings->C5500 Compiler->Basic Options->device+optional revision of target silicon (--silicon version, -v)

Right click on your project name, then select "Build Properties..." , then select "Basic Option" under C5500 Compiler. On the right side, you will see

device+optional revision of target silicon (--silicon version, -v)

That is the place you need to enter the information.

Why didn't you use the option that the App note sugested? Please try the option as they are.

You can use one of the followings:

"core:2.2"

"cpu:2.2"

"5509A"

I have tried all the options. Code is able to build but with the following warning.

"warning: section ".ExtMem2_67_4$heap" (0xce0000) spans page boundary: not allowed before CPU revision 3.0"

How can I get rid of the warning ? The same code built in CCS3.1 doesn't give us the warning. So, it means my CPU version is OK to handle more than 64k limit.

Sorry, I did not know you were still talking about the warning.

As I mentioned before, the C5509A has CPU 2.2 which does not support flat memory address, which is only available in CPU version 3.x. So, you need to move the section not to cross over the 64K page boundary or reduce the size not to over 64K. It is nothing to do with CCS, it is related to CPU core architecture.

I do not which version of 5509A, I am using. But I know that it must be higher than 3.x because I can use over 64k size. Current project (which has size over 64k) is built using CCS3.1. Now, I am migrating the same project to CCS4. The project is giving me above warning. My question is that how can I get rid of the warning (I know that my cpu is supporting over 64k limit) ? (Because it is working fine using CCS3.1 built).

Jayesh,

I do not understand. No matter what version of C5509A you are using, it is not CPU version 3.x. The only DSP that has CPU version 3.x is the C5505/04/14/15.

If you are using the C5505/04/14/15, you can use "cpu:3.3" and you won't see the message. If you still see the message, it is someting else.
