AM5728: H.264 proprietary codec licensing information

Hi,

I am working with an AM5728 EVM dev kit that has the hardware for IVA-HD hardware acceleration for encoding and decoding H.264 and other proprietary codecs and I am looking for licensing information on what is allowed to be done concerning proprietary codecs on the processor.

Would software decoding of H.264 also be covered on the processor or is H.264 decoding limited to decoding done specifically on IVA-HD subsystem?

Hi Matt,

Please check the following manifest file and search for ipumm, this encapsulates the H.264 and other codecs that are hardware accelerated on the AM57 device.

software-dl.ti.com/.../software_manifest.htm

It should help answer your question and the terms of the license should be in the manifest as well.

Software decoding is not covered as part of it and it doesn't fall under TI SDK delivery scope cause we don't provide one.
