Hope this mail finds you well.

This is Tiffany from Triangle Electronics Inc, we bought this item SMJ320VC33HFGM150 TI 8PCS from Arrow Electronic months ago, but we recieve one part without golden line. I am writing to ask what is the difference between the item with Golden Line or without Golden Line. Is the item wihtout Golden Line of bad quality? Can we still use it? Please provide me relevant document to elaborate the difference between them, many thanks!

Hi, Tiffany,

They are all the same and there isn't any quality issue with it. The only difference is when it was coated with solder, how deep it went. Please see discussion in the following thread on the same question but similar device.

Can you offer me the official satement from TI to prove that they are the same? How they appear to be gold-plated or silver-plated? Really not any difference in characteristics or function? We are worried the siver-plated cannot be used as well as gold-plated.

We checked the datasheet for SMJ320VC33HFGM150, but it shows the part should be Gold-plated, Silver-plated is not mentioned, please see file attahced.

We hope you can prove me with official description to this device, thank you for your support!

Hi, Tiffany,

The response in the other thread was from TI's quality department including the last post regarding the action will be on replacement. In the datasheet, it says they are gold plated _and can be solder dipped_ . I still don't see any issue with the SoC that is solder dipped. I doubt there will be an official statement other than what says in the datasheet that it can be solder dipped, but I am checking internally.

Have you checked internally, is there any document to prove the silver-plated is the same as golden-plated? If not, is there any differnce in function?

Hi, Tiffany,

The device is gold-plated frame. Once solder dipped, it will be coated with solder (silver color). I don't think we have any document specifically saying they are the same except in the datasheet that the SoC can be dipped with solder.They are exactly the same and no difference in functionality.

There isn't any difference in functionality. I am curious what bothers you with dipped or no dipped, and what's so critical about it?
