AM5728: Power Sequence related query for AM5728

Part Number: AM5728
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDSEVM572X

Customer is  planning for power sequencing of AM5728 processor. I found some mismatch between data given. Kindly help in power analysis.

It is mentioned in datasheet that voltage range for VDD can be given from 1.11V to 1.2V

but in power calculation sheet it is mentioned as 0.98V;

and it is given as 1.06V in AM5712X EVM.

Could you please clarify what should be followed?

  • Rahul,

The voltage in the data sheet is the "boot" voltage.  The vdd rail supports AVS and the PMIC should be programmed according to the unique AVS Efuse value for each individual SoC.  The EVM boot voltage is based on an older datasheet.  In general it's safe to boot at that voltage as long as AVS is programmed early during device boot.  But for new designs the default/boot voltage should match the data sheet.

  • Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the information. Kindly clarify the below.

    1. Can we ignore AVS and ABB and give constant voltage for vdd_core, vdd_mpu, vdd_ivahd, vdd_dspeve, vdd_gpu?

    2. Does the TMDSEVM572X comes with PMIC programmed?

    Advance thanks,

    Rajeshwar.

  • Rajeshwar,

No you should not ignore AVS/ABB.  It is required.

The SDK does take care of AVS ... the PMIC should be programmed during the initial device boot.

    Regards,

    Kyle
