TDA4VM: Jacinto 7 compilation and execution of PDK driver tests on Linux

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hello,

I'm currently working on a J721E SoC and I want to run the some driver tests based on the drivers available in the PDK (version 07 00 00).

I was able to build the corresponding driver software from the TI RTOS SDK. However, the Makefile used in this step calls the aarch-none-elf compiler, which would enable me to run the executable on an RTOS platform. I wanted to check if there are existing makefiles which would enable me to create executables which can be run on the Linux platform.

The issue is that since the files are compiled by a compiler not for linux, the generated executable is not in the regular Linux format  (.out). I am not sure how the current filetype I generated (.xer5f for MCU and .xa72fg for MPU) can be executed. If however, we are able to compile using the aarch-none-linux-gnu compiler, it will make the execution process and further software developement easier.

My goal is to also be able to reproduce these results using the CMake builder and was wondering if there are also static libraries for these drivers that I can directly use in my CMake configuration file, instead of having to link the corresponding C files individually.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi,

I am not aware of any makefile examples to port PDK examples to a Linux space. Typically TI's SDK's are partitioned neatly by OS type, RTOS, Linux and QNX so this use-case is not under consideration.

The binaries you are referring to (.xer5f for MCU and .xa72fg for MPU) are CCS executables. The SDK does provide a way for Linux to load binaries on other cores through IPC as firmwares, I don't know if that solves your problem.

Else, you will have to write your makefile from scratch or re-purpose the PDK makefiles to use the GCC compiler to generate Linux loadable binaries.

    Regards
