AM4378: U-Boot issues

Hello Everyone,

Here i have a custom board with am437x i created a sd card image and wrote in to sd card and booted normally it booted expecting input device at first time i given mouse first and later modified weston.ini file ok working fine. suddenly today morning it is not accepting any sd cards it is not booting with any sd cards for some old sd cards it is showing u-boot version date  that's it nothing is coming on console. and nothing is displaying on display. what might happened any body have idea of nothing is displaying on console and display as well. i checked hardware all cables everything is fine. i thought to format emmc but we can do it if sd card booted means only know. which here i am facing emmc also nothing is coming.

did anybody faced similar problem any.

actually i am trying to solve pulse audio related packages issues today i landed to new issue of no boot even i written properly card. i suspected even all sd cards and new fresh sd card i written but no use.

please some one help me it's been very urgent to me.

Any sort of immediate help is appreciated.

    My issue is very similar to here mentioned issue but mine is custom board and working fine till yesterday suddenly i got this kind of issue

    Hi Anantha,

    Based on your description, one possibility is the board was not connected correctly or broken somehow.

    Do we have another board to try out?

    Do we have JTAG accessible on your board?  This will help check if board is still alive?

    1)Yes we have jtag on board for programming atmel processor. but how you mean to check with that Mr.Hong.

    2)As this procedure i also observed with evaluation board also yesterday i booted with prebuild images on evm board. It booted successfully, today i booted with onne sd card which is not booting on custom board then all status leds glowed on evaluation board and on screen red display came and stopped . I then once again tried to boot with prebuild sd card then the same issue i observed that nothing booting on evm board which i am facing with custom board. And also one more observation i made here is second time trial with prebuild images sd card even now power is also not turned on green led glown in light colour and stopped.

    is that means board gone or what?

    3)I tried with evaluation board only it given me same issue so i am worried to use another board instead i want to make this board to working.

    4)is there any hardware reset buttons on evm board since if any mistake we made later to bring it back so that it accepts prebuild images and boot from it.

    From this scenario can you help anything since how a non working sd card made booting boards to non booting i didn't understand.

    i am seriously in a confusion what to do next. please someone help me in this matter.

    It was written for AM335x board, but the general concept apply to AM43xx board also.

    Hong,

    I think no issue with board system boot configurations,  since the sys boot configurations are configures as mmc0,mmc1 sequence boot.

    And i given power with out pluging sd card on board emmc is already loaded so as boot configuration if sd card is absent it has to boot from emmc so i confirmed myself it is booting from emmc since i got some messages as i shown in this pic for first time before board going in to non boot. later U-Boot SPL 2015.07-00114-gf8d68d1-dirty (Sep 12 2016 -14:28:40) came.

    But by the time when i am writing this the messages completely stoped and nothing is visible on console terminal expect minicom welcom message lines.

    why slowly one by one got missing and completely booting stops. the same happened in case of sd card also. one one message got decreased for evry boot and finally not booted. Now with this emmc alos happening same.

    please suggest me a way.

    And Hong as per your suggestion i did board bring up test also all voltages are quiet normal readings recorded.

    in uart test i didn't get any c letter.

    What i feel is memory is faing to read u-boot so causing boot isssues can we fix this?

    or  may be my assumption wrong?

    Hi Anantha,

    You posted your working log file (below) earlier in another e2e, where u-boot is 2019.01, and kernel is 4.19.

    But the screenshot above shows u-boot 2015.07 built on 2016.

    Do we have a reason going back to earlier u-boot?

    Can we boot up u-boot 2019.01 on your board as you reported last week?
