DDR_CLK differential pair?

Anonymous

Hi All,

I would like to ask some questions on differential pair.

Within SPRS345d I found only one pin described as a differential signal, namely the DDR_CLK(overhead) signal as shown in the screenshot:

I compared the two associated nets and found they are parallel and equidistant, and have equal length. So are they an instance of the differential pair?

And does their exist other differential pairs for DM6437?

Thanks,

Zheng

  • Zheng,

Being the same length, parallel and equidistant does not make the signals differential.

Differential signaling is a technique where a data bit is sent on 2 traces and the signals are 180 degrees out of phase. The receiver then measures the difference between the signals and not simply their logic level.

This means that the signal is not sensitive to any DC offset which might be on the signals.

Do some Google searching for "differential signaling" for more information.

    BR,

    Steve
