TMS320C6748 is called Fixed/Floating-Point Digital Signal Processor

Here is the question: What is the difference between those two DSPs? Is it the same core?

As far as I know you can execute fixed-point instruction on a floating point processor.

Peripherals look identical to me, so again, what is the difference?

Yes, both DSPs feature the "674x" core which is a superset/merger of our 64x+ and 67x+ cores that preceded it.

They have different peripherals and different packages. Check out the chart shown here:

It has a pretty nice side-by-side view of what's different.

Thanks Brad, it's clear now. However TI's website is missleading you should call them the same thing.
