DRA829V: CAN Error frame detection and Processing

CAN error frames are a part of the protocol itself. They are different from the errors you are trying to look at.

1) Receive (Rx) Errors

2) Transmit (Tx) Errors

3) Arbitration loss Errors

4) Non-acknowledge Errors

1, 2 and 4 can be gauged from the MCAN_PSR register's LEC and DLEC fields. There is a mapping to show indicate kinds of errors in Arbitration and Data phase.

There are different Tx and Rx errors mentioned in http://downloads.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-rtos-jacinto7/latest/exports/docs/pdk_jacinto_07_00_00/docs/userguide/faq/faq_can.html#can-communication-failed-where-to-start-debug which can also be mapped from PSR register.

For Arbitration loss see section 12.4.4.4.3.7.1 (Frame Transmission in DAR mode) - This happens in below cases:

• Corresponding Tx Buffer Transmission Occurred MCAN_TXBTO[xx] TOx bit is not set
• Corresponding Tx Buffer Cancellation Finished MCAN_TXBCF[xx] CFx bit is set
