Someone could tell me how or if we can reset ALL configuration (x-load, u-boot, linux kernel...) of the OMAP35X EVM board from TI?
Because I have a problem, when I plug UART1 jumper J8 selected UART1 I don't see anything on Minicom terminal.

Hi,
It is very difficult to comment anything with such limited information,
- What do you mean by all configuration? Please be specific.
- Which boot mode are you using, MMC OR NAND?
Thanks,
Vaibhav
Sorry for my such limited information,
I would like to boot with NAND but it doesn't work anymore.
I would like to reset NAND as I just came to buy the board. I don't know if it is possible.
I believe I have to do a bootable SD card and then I could tranfert (or reflash) the NAND memory.
It could be that, somehow your NAND flash got corrupted or erased. And yes it is possible to reflash the images to NAND, there are various mechanism's -
- As you rightly pointed out, use MMC boot mechanism and reflash the NAND. Please refer to the PSP user guide for more details on HOWTO - http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM35x-OMAP35x-PSP_03.00.00.05_UserGuide
- Using any flash tool - https://gforge.ti.com/gf/project/flash/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=110
- And finally JTAG based debugger, CCS based information is available at - http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/OMAP_and_Sitara_CCS_support
Thanks,
Vaibhav
Ok thank you very much for your help.
Could you give me a good link to know how to do a bootable SD card?
Google should be able to provide 1000's of pages for this. I have couple of bookmarks which I am pasting here, should give you basic idea -
Steps for Linux host machine - http://code.google.com/p/beagleboard/wiki/LinuxBootDiskFormat
For windows - Use HP USB Disk storage format tool (Make sure that you only use 2.0.6 version)
Thanks,
Vaibhav
Hi,
Thanks for your help but I still have my problem. I tried to prepare a bootable SD card but it didn't work. I had to use an USB - SD card adapator to use HP USB disk storage format tool.
I asked me if I didn't have to convert x-load.bin.ift, u-boot.bin ... with unix2dos?
I still have nothing in my terminal when I try to boot the board. I changed swith SW4 by putting ON SW1, SW2 and SW3 and the others to OFF.
Do you know where could be my problem?
May be we can help you step by step. Are you using MS windows or Linux, if you are using linux I can probably send to you a link to format your sd card.
Here 's a tutorial to do it on linux: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php?title=MMC_Boot_Format
Bon courage!
Hi,
I used linux Centos with Virtualbox until today but as I have had a lot of problem I decided to install Ubuntu direct on a partition of my disk.
I am going to try to prepare a bootable SD card with your link and I will tell you if I still have some problem.
You are may be French. If you are French you can answer me in French if you want.
Hello Aurélien
Effectivement je suis français mais pour la compréhension de tous nous allons continuer en anglaissur le forum, on pourra toujours échanger en mail privé en français si il y a des souçis.
It's a good choice to move on ubuntu. If you have not already install the distrib please choose à 10.04 LTS 32 bit version. For the dvsdk4, this version is mandatory.
Hope you'll succeed to get back your EVM as out of the box.
No problem to continue in English. I just installed the last version of ubuntu this morning before my last post on this forum. It is Ubuntu 10.10.
I am going to see if DVSDK work on it.
I have a problem when I want to install softwares on linux I can't execute ./OMAP35...bin Nothing happen!
Do you know where the problem could come?
