I2C, SPI Interface to DSK6713

Hi

I'm very new to real-time dsp platforms, and 6713 is the first one I'm working with.

I'm trying to utilize either SPI or I2C interface to talk with eZ430-2500RF target board, which also has both interfaces on chip.

How exactly do I have to accomplish this?

 

I notice the I2C interface is in J1 HPI connector. Does that mean I have to purchase a daughter board to actually use those pins?

 

Any help will be highly appreciated!

    Minzhen Ren,

    Welcome to the E2E Forum.

    You will need to get the SPI or I2C signals from the C6713 to the eZ430-2500RF target board. Since the signals are presented at the J1 HPI connector, this would be the way to get the signals from the EVM. A daughtercard or a simple breakout adapter would work well for making these signals available for you to connect to the eZ430-2500RF target board. You may have to add a connector of some type to the eZ430-2500RF target board, too, but I am not familiar with it to be able to say what is needed there.

    Once you have made the wire connections, please refer to the Driver Development Kit (DDK) for drivers to handle the SPI or I2C logic transfers.

    Thank you so much for your clarification, RandyP!

    A further question is where I can get a breakout adapter or a daughter card for J1 HPI connector. Does T.I. also sell the adapter or the daughter card? I'm trying to get a part that avoids any kind of soldering work because the constraints of the equipments I can access to. I saw the one 6713 Technical Reference suggests to use (part number: TFM-140-32-S-D-LC) but it is a surface mount part so I cannot use it.

    It will be the best If there is a simple adapter that I can plug in to the daughter card slot to make all the pins available to connect. Is there anything like that?

    I hesitate to name one of our 3rd Party partners, because there are many and I do not mean to leave out any of them. Link-Research is one such company from which I have bought breakout adapter boards and a daughtercard.

    You can find other 3rd Party suppliers from the TI Website and by internet search.
