TMS320C5535: I2S sound input questions

Part Number: TMS320C5535
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1864

hello

Im looking at the for potentially using the TMS320C5535 as sound input to another device with limited I2S connections and am looking for 8 channel input

can someone confirm the following

  • It has "4 (TwoChannel,Full DuplexCommunication)" this means 4 stereo (2 channel) i2S inputs for a total of 8 channels?  and could be connected to four stereo adc/codec e.g ADAU7112

  • what is the status of multi channel and USB 2.0 Audio class support?

  • is there a known implementation for 8 channel audio conversion from i2s to USB (single 8 channel or multiple 2,4 channel usb )

Yes, 4 I2S lines can be used for 8 channel input. We have a TI design that uses C55xx with circular microphone array to provide input from 8 mics using PCM1864 to input mic in to the DSP I2S lines that you can use as reference.

What is the status of the C55x Connected Audio Framework ? it doesn't appear to have been updated since 2013 and its wiki appears to be going to be removed in jan 2021

This is legacy software that is in maintain mode only. This is not under active development. You can use it as is for reference but we are currently not supporting the software

This is part of the Connected audio framework that you referred to in the previous question

I can check internal archives, but all known issues are typically archived in the Release notes of the package.
