Why EVM6437 NOR flash has pulldown resistor?

Hi All,

I would like to ask a question on EMIF pin connection.

In EVM6437, EM_A[13..20] pins of DSP are connected to NOR through a rather complicated network:

DSP pin

Through

Net

Through

Net

Through

Net

BUS

To

EM_A[13..20]

CI{20-index}

RN5

B.CI{20-index}

3384 (U18)

MEM.EM_A{index}

MEM.EM_A[20..13]

NOR

The important connections are highlighted while other intermediate wiring can be ignored for the present question.

One thing I have found is that the terminal net MEM.EM_A[20..13] at NOR is also connected to the ground through resistors of 47K. So are these pulling down resistors for the NOR flash? EVM6437 uses Spansion S29GL256N11FFI010 flash whose datasheet can be found here, but could not find relevant information about these address pin pulling up or down.

So are these resistors really pulldown resistors for the flash? Are they necessary?

Thanks,

Zheng
