C6748 bootloader question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6748

Hi All,

I have a question on the C6748 bootloader.   We will be using the SPI slave boot mode.

According to the Using the TMS320C6748/C6746/C6742 Bootloader application report (SPRAAT2C.pdf), there are 3 different versions of the bootloader (d800k002, d800k004 and d800k006) and we have to specify the bootloader version when generating the AIS file using the AISgen tool from TI.   However, it is always possible that there may be more than one version of the bootloader in the C6748 chips that are used in production as they may be purchased at different times from different suppliers.    Is it possible to generate one AIS file that will work with all three versions of the C6748 bootloader?    Will an AIS file generated for bootloader version d800k002 work properly with bootloader version d800k004 and d800k006?   What is the recommended way to take care of this issue?

Any help will be appreciated?

David

  • David,

In general, building a boot image for the older part should work on any newer parts.  However, your chance of encountering a D800K002 part (1.0 silicon) is extremely low.  The differences between K004 and K006 are pretty minimal and I don't think there is anything related the SPI slave boot mode that would change behavior among those two revisions.  I would recommend specifying the D800K006 revision.

  • Hi Daniel,

I have met some questions about C6748 nand flash boot.

Can you take some time to see my questions in another thread C6748 Nand Flash Boot?

    Thanks and Regards,
